A phobia is an extreme and irrational fear of something. It is a much greater emotion than a dislike, a phobia adversely affects your life, preventing you from doing something which you would otherwise want to be able to do. Common phobias include fear of flying, fear of wasps and fear of spiders. However, it is possible for a phobia to develop to practically anything. For example, phobias are known about bananas, buttons, even to collections of small holes.
As phobias tend to have a deep unconscious element to them, they can be quite resistant to cognitive approaches - that is to say, they are hard to get rid of simply by conscious thinking. Hypnotherapy can be a very effective approach, teaching you to remain calm and rational, even when thinking about and encountering the object of the phobia.
The Getting You There phobia programme consists of three sessions to not just remove the immediate fear, but to replace it with a lasting confidence and feelings of calmness and control.
As with all the Getting You There hypnotherapy programmes, you will receive recordings of the relevant hypnotherapy and additional material if relevant. Should you require more than 3 sessions of therapy, the programme can be followed by sessional hypnotherapy, as required.
